Women’s Alcohol Freedom & Positive Health Coaching Community

A weekly online community for women who are ready to change their relationship with alcohol — and create a healthier, more fulfilling life.

Alcohol freedom. Positive health. Sustainable change. Community.

What if changing your relationship with alcohol could be about more than simply giving something up?

What if it could be an opportunity to improve your health, your habits, your energy, your sleep, your relationships, your confidence and your overall quality of life?

The Wholesome Path is a weekly online positive health coaching and community programme for women who want to reduce their alcohol use, take a prolonged break from alcohol, become alcohol-free, or maintain their sobriety.

Hosted on Zoom and facilitated by Orlagh Reid, Psychotherapist, Addiction Counsellor, Recovery Coach and Group Facilitator, The Wholesome Path combines alcohol freedom with positive health coaching, education, practical strategies, motivation and peer connection.

This is about the whole person — not just the alcohol.

WHAT IS THE WHOLESOME PATH?

The Wholesome Path is a supportive weekly space create for all women and tailored for women over thirty who are ready to make meaningful changes to their relationship with alcohol.

You may be drinking more than you want to. You may be tired of the same cycle of drinking, recovering and starting again. You may have decided to take a break from alcohol because you want to feel healthier, sleep better, have more energy, improve your fitness, manage stress, save money or simply feel more like yourself again.

You may be working towards complete alcohol freedom or sobriety. Or you may already be alcohol-free and want ongoing encouragement, accountability and a community of women who understand the journey.

The Wholesome Path Coaching Community is about creating a supportive environment where women can learn, share, reflect, set goals, develop healthier habits and encourage one another.

THE WHOLESOME PATH APPROACH

Every week Orlagh Reid combines together four important elements for a more wholesome happy week ahead:

ALCOHOL FREEDOM

Practical support, education, motivation and strategies to help you reduce, stop or maintain your alcohol-free lifestyle. A specific focus on cutting down and cutting out. Cutting down means getting right down to less than half of the low-risk guidelines per week (below 6 units per week) with a maximum of 12 units per month while cutting out is going alcohol free for set and extended periods of time.

POSITIVE HEALTH

Looking beyond alcohol to the areas of life that influence how we feel, function and thrive. Through learning about the pillars of positive health women will build health habits that reinforce her alcohol freedom journey. From stress management to diet, nutrition, sleep, self-care, exercise, fun and social connection.

COACHING & BEHAVIOUR CHANGE

Setting realistic goals, developing sustainable habits, increasing self-awareness and turning intentions into action.

COMMUNITY & CONNECTION

Being supported by other women who are working towards similar goals and understanding that you don’t have to do this alone – and that together it feels easier.

Each one-hour Zoom is relaxed, practical and conversational.

There will be space to share what’s happening for you, ask questions, learn from others and explore practical ways forward.

Each week we will explore:

  • Cutting out Alcohol, Alcohol freedom and Sobriety — reducing, stopping, staying alcohol-free and maintaining motivation.
  • Milestones and celebrations — from your first alcohol-free day through 10, 30, 60 or 90 days, 6 months, 1 year and beyond.
  • What’s working for you this week — sharing strategies, successes and discoveries from the week.
  • Challenges and difficult moments — discussing triggers, cravings, social situations, stress and the moments when staying on track becomes difficult.
  • Motivation and mindset — understanding what keeps you moving forward when motivation naturally rises and falls.
  • Mindfulness and self-awareness — becoming more conscious of habits, emotions, choices and automatic behaviours.
  • Healthy habits and behaviour change — replacing old patterns with realistic, sustainable behaviours.
  • Stress management — exploring healthier ways of managing pressure, overwhelm and difficult emotions.
  • Staying Strong and motivated — identifying risks, planning ahead and developing strategies for maintaining change.
  • Food and nutrition — supporting your physical health and creating nourishing routines and sharing your faves.
  • Sleep and rest — understanding the importance of quality sleep, routine, power naps and recovery.
  • Movement and fitness — finding enjoyable and achievable ways to become more active.
  • Environment — looking at how your home, work and social environments can support your goals.
  • Family and relationships — exploring connection, boundaries and the impact of alcohol changes on those around you.
  • Social connection and activities — finding new ways to socialise, have fun and create meaningful experiences without alcohol.
  • Books, podcasts and resources — sharing useful information and recommendations that support the alcohol-free journey.
  • Common mistakes and mishaps — understanding some of the habits and approaches that can unintentionally make change harder.

YOUR WEEK. YOUR GOALS. YOUR WHOLESOME PATH.

The Wholesome Path is an alcohol freedom and  coaching community, this means we focus on the now and the near future – the things you can create, control and experience.

Weekly Goal Setting is part of the 5–10 minutes of each weekly session, everyone will be encouraged to identify smart, realistic and achievable goals or activities for the week ahead.

Your goal might be:

  • Having an alcohol-free week.
  • Going for three walks.
  • Preparing healthier meals.
  • Improving your sleep routine.
  • Practising mindfulness.
  • Managing stress differently.
  • Going to the gym or trying a new activity.
  • Reconnecting with a friend.
  • Planning for a difficult social situation.
  • Doing something enjoyable just for yourself.

The following week, you can check back in and share what happened.

What worked? What didn’t? What did you learn? What are you proud of? What would you like to try next?

The aim is to build awareness, confidence, consistency and sustainable behaviour change, one week at a time – and feel the benefits of taking control again and boosting wellbeing.

Over time, this can help women feel increasingly confident, capable and back in control — not only of their relationship with alcohol, but of their wider health and wellbeing. No more guilt, no more regret, no more fear, no more anxiety – just a wholesome positive path forward.

WHY THE WHOLESOME PATH IS DIFFERENT

Ireland has a number of excellent established recovery communities, including Alcoholics Anonymous, SMART Recovery and LifeRing.

These organisations provide valuable peer and facilitator-led support for people seeking sobriety and recovery from alcohol use disorder, alcohol addiction and dependency.

The Wholesome Path Coaching Community is not intended to replace well established self-help groups.

It has developed from Orlagh’s experience of more than 15 years working in addiction and recovery, alongside her wider work in psychotherapy, health and wellbeing and women’s health.

Through that experience, Orlagh has recognised that there are also many women who are concerned about their drinking, are tired of the cycle of alcohol use and want to make a significant change – but who may not identify with having mild- moderate-to-severe alcohol use disorder or see themselves as needing traditional addiction recovery.

They may simply know:

“I’m drinking more than I want to.”

“I’m sick of the cycle.”

“I don’t feel like myself anymore.”

“I want to feel healthier.”

“I want to see what life is like without alcohol.”

“I’m ready to stop, but I don’t want to do it alone.”

The Wholesome Path creates a space for these women.

It brings together alcohol freedom and positive health, recognising that changing your relationship with alcohol can be part of a much bigger process of improving your quality of life.

Important Note: The Wholesome Path Meetings are for women who are committed to changing their relationship with alcohol and who are ready to cut down signifigantly, maintain alcohol freedom and/or those women seeking peer community. Those consuming over 50+ units per week may need medical detox or medical treatment and intervention. Please contact Orlagh directly for one-to-one therapy appointment to discuss professional help and support.
